Truck Park management. Managing a monthly inbound freight volume of 120,000MT consisting of reagents, project, fuel and general cargo. Liaison with Suppliers, inbound freight planners and transporters to understand inbound freight volumes for effective offload planning. Liaison with Customs Officials and clearing agents to plan offloading for consumption, or bonded warehousing. Inbound demurrage preparation and payments.

Key Successes

Collaborated with various stakeholders to improve planning, communication and execution to drive down turnaround times. Reduced on-site truck turnaround times from 7 days to 2.5 for import reagent cargo and 0.8 days for local cargo. Significantly reduced offloading demurrage by implementing daily tracking and monitoring dashboards.

Managed full supply chain function covering 8 in country and 4 cross border mineral ore processing operations. Development, implementation and rollout of Supply Chain strategy, inclusive of Procurement and Materials Management goals and targets. Project Lead for implementation of Sage X3 to 6 production plant sites. Other responsibilities included Contract Management and Strategic Sourcing supported by Demand Forecasting and Maintenance Philosophy’s. Tender Management Process, including scope of works and tender adjudication, contract negotiation and contract management. Development and implementation of Standard Operation Procedures to achieve standardization of supply chain work processes. Rationalization of supplier base and supplier contracts covering goods and services, and Inventory optimization across 12 operational plant sites totaling R600m.

Managed and an annual procurement spend procurement to the value of R1.2 billion.

Key Successes

Designed world class ‘Fit for Purpose’ Supply Chain ERP system and successfully implemented across 8 operational entities.

Identified and realized significant savings stemming from Procurement (cost savings) and optimal inventory levels (R85m overstock) with a 12-month stock draw down value of R15m across 4 Plant processing sites. Achieved 85% contract goods spend, and 60% contract services spend across several business units. Successfully negotiated settlement discounts in excess of R5M over and above preferred contract prices.

Significantly improved Supply Chain operation effectiveness and optimized stock profiles and MRP setting for several plant processing sites.
