Responsibilities: Purchasing: Responsible for making sure that the department has enough pallets to run the production continuously, this also means keeping to required monthly budgeted numbers. To meet this, Logistic Manager has to have a system in place to collect pallets from customers to maintain the minimal purchasing and keep to budget. Truck spares purchasing and logistics department stationery and equipment purchasing. Transport Scheduling: All distance deliveries are planned and scheduled by the Logistics Manager. Managers need to build and maintain relationships with truck suppliers and be able to negotiate with the most cost effective and low risk transporters. These responsibilities include making sure that Transporters used, sign SLA’s and have all the required GIT insurance documentations in place. Also, the transporters used must be able to handle the products we want transported and get the products to our customers the same way we packaged and loaded on the trucks. Truck Management/Maintenance: Responsible for the management of the Corruseal Fleet that does the companies local and long-distance deliveries. The debriefing, the truck load planning and driver management is the Logistics Managers responsibility. The maintenance, breakdown and truck registration are the responsibility of the Logistics Manager. He also is responsible for making sure all insurance claims; accidents are dealt with properly and all information in detail is sent to our insurance department. Distribution Planning: All the distribution planning coming from production is the responsibility of the Logistics Manager. All distance deliveries, local deliveries, urgencies and Container planning is done by the Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager has the responsibility of making sure that all planning and routing of the fleet is at the lowest Cost possible. It is one of his highest KPI, the Cost Per Ton. All distribution planning must allow the Logistics planning department to be pulling from production and get all produce according to the pull from dispatch. Receiving: All raw material goes through the distribution process of the Logistics department. All trucks that come in to deliver must be overseen and managed by the Logistics Manager. The receiving department reports to the Logistics Manager. The raw material spreadsheet and monthly forecast is given to the Logistics Manger and he must make sure that plans go accordingly. Because we can’t afford to have too much raw material or run out of any raw material. Stock Control: All stock control is overseen by the Logistics Manager. All Cycle Count schedules are planned, and stock control team has to make sure that these schedules are done according to the schedule set out by the Logistics Manager. Planning of the Quarterly Stock Take, and the variances is the responsibility of the Manager Reporting: The Logistics Manager has daily weekly and Monthly reports that he has to report on and be able to track the departments KPI objectives to see if we on track or need to make changes to get to the required targets. These reports are: Daily Transport CPT: A daily report is monitored, and all faults are dealt with daily Daily tonnage delivered: Each shift is tracked, and Dispatch Supervisor performances are tracked Weekly/Monthly Pallet Recons: To see that department is meeting budget numbers a weekly/Monthly report of pallet purchasing; collection and hiring is conducted Weekly CPT: A weekly Cost Per ton report is done to see if the department is delivering at the required or planned costs. Weekly/Monthly Supply Chain Spreadsheet: This spreadsheet is done to see the overall department target alignment and how good or bad the department is doing to achieving these set targets. OTIF, CPT, Pallets, Weekly Tonnage. Team Management: Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing 17KSQM warehouse, the receiving department and the Stock Control team. The team has a 3-shift cycle with 3 dispatch Supervisors who have 5 drivers a team. Also, the receiving team has a 3 shift with 3 guys on each shift. The Warehouse Manger is responsible for a team of around 25 people.
