I was born in Sri Lanka. My mother was unable to look after me, so she sent me to an Anglican Orphanage in Colombo. On leaving school, I worked in the shipping business until I met Irish poet Richard Murphy, who had decided to retire to Sri Lanka. He offered me a job looking after him in his home.
As he grew older I became his carer and was employed by him until he died, at home, aged 90, in 2018.
In 2023 I completed my Diploma course NVQ Level 5 with a view to working professionally as a Caregiver.
I am married to Naomi, and have three children.
I have various connections with Ireland due to working for Mr Murphy for so many years. I have Sri Lankan friends there, plus Mr Murphy's daughter and husband.
That is why I would very much like to work in Ireland, where I believe there are very good opportunities in the field of caring. It has become my vocation in life.
I am a practicing Anglican. I am a non smoker and non drinker.
I am fully fluent in English
Whilst completing NVQ Level 5 course I am working at Friends of Need Society Nursing Home in Kandy, Sri Lanka
