I’m an energetic individual who believes that what I put in will determine what we will get out, and the successes we’ll have. I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some remarkable individuals and teams over the past 25 years, on a personal and professional level, across a diverse range of organizations, including being the PA to the Principal at St. Andrews School in Welkom and currently PA and Admissions Administrator to Principal at Edenglen Primary School. I believe that my performance for my direct reports is key and strengthens the chances of success for the team. What follows in this CV is an insight into some of my achievements and experience and I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss these in person.

Job overview

  • A Personal Assistant helps with time and daily management, scheduling of meetings and note taking. The role of a Personal Assistant can be varied, such as answering telephone calls, taking notes, scheduling meetings, emailing, texting, etc. Attending parents, learners, staff and visitors to the school in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Maintaining the Principal’s diary along with the HR Administrator. Arranging SGB and GDE interviews, appointments, etc. alongside the HR Administrator. Communicate accurate messages to staff and resolve potential conflicts with stakeholders as the first point of entry to the school.
  • As an Admissions Officer, the employee handles the admission of learners to the school in line with regulations and policy, reporting directly to the principal where necessary. An Administrator provides office and administrative support to a team. This role is vital for the smooth running of the school.
  • I was also a member of our PA committee and SGB committee.
  • GENERAL COMMUNICATION: Assisting with communication duties as follows: Answering telephone calls and other forms of communication in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Attending to parents, learners, staff and visitors to the school in a prompt, professional and courteous manner. Maintaining the Principal’s diary along with the HR Administrator. Arranging SGB and GDE interviews, appointments, etc. alongside the HR Administrator. Communicate accurate messages to staff and resolve potential conflict with stakeholders as the first point of entry to the school.
  • MANAGEMENT OF EMPLOYEES: Promoting a positive work environment and effective communication within the Admin Block and maintaining good relations daily; and Training new employees within the Admin Block of the policies and procedures relevant to their work within two weeks of the new employee’s arrival.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: Keeping staff lists up-to-date alongside the HR Administrator. Assist the Parents’ Association with checking, copying and distributing of newsletters and/or announcements. Typing as required by the Principal. Assisting with the compilation, distribution and copying of announcements through newsletters and the D6 Communicator.
  • Assisting the finance supervisor with the Liberty Beneficiary spreadsheet to be submitted after the payroll monthly; Assisting with coordinating of the Grade One Orientation Day and other school events Assisting the finance supervisor by maintaining a monthly debtor allocation spreadsheet which indicates what year debtor payments are being made, to be submitted to the finance supervisor weekly.
  • COMMUNICATION WITH THE GDE: Liaising with District Office with regards to: Assisting with meetings and event coordination, liaising with stakeholders in this regard, liaising with District Office if requested. Assisting with the compilation and submission of reports, statistics and documents as delegated by the Principal and ensuring the confidentiality thereof. Preparing the first draft of the Section 38A Application to be made to District before 31 May each year (to be checked by finance supervisor and Principal). Prepare and submit the application for the additional bank account to the GDE annually; and Preparing any other information that the Principal, SGB or GDE requires to be sent to the GDE.
  • ADMISSIONS: The admissions process must adhere to all the requirements as directed by the Gauteng Department of Education and their online applications process. Admissions should be done daily as and when application forms are submitted.
  • PROCUREMENT: Procurement of items as requested by the Principal in line with school policy; Ensuring that any items requested have been budgeted for and that all purchases are made in accordance with policy and procedure as required; Managing and coordinating all admin required equipment is purchased as per policy and procedure as required.
  • SALARIES AND ADDITIONAL REMUNERATION: Managing payroll and related statutory required submissions and payments as they become necessary; Preparing the schedules and payroll for additional remuneration quarterly.
