• All 71 of us retrenched due to, ADC was founded approximately 10 years ago and was mainly funded by the IDC
• As a Mega factory start-up project, it was established to evolve into a global player in Cable manufacturing
• From the onset, Brand new, state-of-the-art equipment was procured
• Not a cent was spared in purchasing the very best Cable Manufacturing equipment & a variety of the best production lines, were sourced and imported from various European/Asian companies such as SAMP, Skaltek, Daloo to create a super-efficient plant in every sense of the word
• I was head-hunted, & originally employed as an Independent contractor to create and implement a tailor-made SAP based, Planning and Scheduling system
• Due to my years of experience in Cable Production & Planning & management with Voltex, and later Aberdare Cables, I was approached as one of a handful of people available in South Africa at the time, who had the relevant, Cable specific experience to put in place, not only the relevant System set-up, but to Design the entire Procedure from scratch, as well as ALL Documentation which was to be used throughout the Manufacturing Process, such as Shop docs( Work Orders), for every stage of manufacturing
• After completing the design and implementation of the entire system, I was offered a permanent position to become the Planner for ADC Cables, as I had been fulfilling the roll of Prod Planner from the 1st week, after commencing employment as a systems consultant.
• Continuous Planning and Scheduling of various production processes, utilising SAP & PPSOne to do confirmations of Materials, Operations and Production processes
• Finished goods are booked into stock locations only if all above confirmations are successfully closed
• Delivery notes / Invoicing cannot commence on the SAP system without these confirmations I perform
• Daily Production vs
• Outstanding Orders reports back to directors, Sales manager and production managers
• Ongoing reconciliation of Scrap totals for all Raw materials in order to highlight excessive material usage and to re-order additional materials where necessary to ensure goods are ready to meet delivery dates
• As the Planner of a company, I am the liaison between Production and the Commercial departments
• It is therefore crucial to ensure excellent communication flow between departments, ensuring Accuracy and Timeliness of the production process
• In my experience communication is key, in keeping clients happy and avoiding unnecessary pressure on the Production team
• Re-manufacturing goods due to bad communication could be very costly and certainly stunt a company’s growth or could even lead to closure
• Other valuable skills of a good production planner, include sharp analytical skills and exceptional organization and time-management abilities.

• Arranged & coordinated, nationwide deliveries to accommodate national fleet sales deliveries of New 7 Used vehicles.
• Charity events sponsored by Unitrans Toyota e.g
• Rotary Club, Claremont School, Annual Cycle Challenge, etc
• Was one of three key holders of the entire dealership.
• Opening and closing the dealership continuously.
• Ensuring all cars were parked & secured.

• Was given additional responsibilities including integrating the IBM Copex Mainframe with the Abacus Mainframe, SAP implementation on manufacturing modules
