Dynamic actuarial professional with leadership experience at Old Mutual, specializing in IFRS 17 implementation and capital requirement calculations. Proven problem solver with a keen attention to detail, I successfully led a team to perform the IFRS 17 transition calculation for key products. I drove process improvements and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Technically proficient in actuarial modeling and risk assessment.
I was part of the Group Actuarial Reporting team. I was mainly responsible for the Old Mutual IFRS 17 calculation engine, DataTech. Key responsibilities included maintaining and updating the calculations performed by DataTech, and assisting users in understanding and debugging DataTech-related issues.
Once DataTech's responsibilities reduced, m responsibilities shifted towards reviewing and consolidating IFRS and EV results from the different Old Mutual segments. I mainly focused on CSM, VNB and assumption changes.
I was part of the IFRS 17 project team, focusing on IFRS transition. My team was responsible for performing the retrospective IFRS 17 calculations in order to determine the opening IFRS 17 balance sheet.
I headed a small team of between three and five individuals, plus two to four consultants, which focused on the general model portfolios. This work was performed on behalf of segment valuation teams, as they focused on IFRS 4 reporting, and other aspects of IFRS 17 implementation.
I was in the Risk and Capital team. We were responsible for calculating capital requirements, on both the regulatory basis (SAM standard formula) and an internal basis using an internal model.
During this period I worked quantifying operational risk using a scenario based approach, I was involved in assessing credit risk, and SCR calculations.
The team also calculated a risk measure on profits - earnings at risk.
