• Execute predictive and preventive maintenance on automation equipment and systems (AXXIS and VIPERDET) including but not limited to PLC/DCS control systems hardware and software, HMI, operating systems, servers, and instrumentation.
• Performs routine diagnostic checks on automated systems, monitor automated systems, isolate problems and perform repairs on Electronic Detonators (AXXIS and Viperdet) machines.
• Ensures machines operate at optimal efficiencies.
• Ensures all Axxis Electronic Detonators and Viperdet Initiating Systems produced, and material used meats minimum quality standards and specification
• To supervise and train a production team, including operators and assistants.
• Ensures that machines are always in a good state of repair.
• Troubleshoot deviations and determine if the problem is mechanical, electrical or from the computer systems controlling the process. Once the issue has been diagnosed, I am required to repair or replace any necessary components.
• Ensure that the plant is started and shut down safely and correctly, following correct start-up and shut down procedures.
• Understand the hazards associated with handling hazardous materials and enforce the safe handling of these materials on the plant.
• Respond to and repair emergency automation issues.
• Training and teaching others – ensure Assembly Assistants and Operators understand and adhere to critical engineering compliance measures.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as the Explosives Act and Regulations.
• Ensure compliance with maintenance and engineering standards.
• Understand the key elements that support productivity and ensure that these elements are applied in the plant.

• Perform the day-to-day total productive maintenance to ensure that Sipa machinery are maintained in an effective, up to date accurate manner.
• Ensure safe equipment operation on all electrical equipment on all machines and utilities.
• Ensure optimum running time on packing equipment.
• Ensure effective electrical planned preventive maintenance to ensure high plant availability.
• Problem solving and changeovers on high speed blow Moulding machines (SFR 6, SFR 8 and SFR 16 EVO) SIPA machines.
• Problem solving on high speed packaging machines, shrink wraps (Dimac Blue Star, Green Star and SMI), labelling machines (SACMI and P.E Rollmatic), Mass blenders, Conveyors, Pallet wrappers, Coders, liquid fillers(SINCROBLOC), pumps and motors (single and three phase)
• New electrical installations.
• Maintenance and fault finding on existing electrical equipment/panels.
• Assist with utilities with regards to boilers, cooling tower, Chillers, Vacuum systems and Compressors of up to 40 bars for blow moulding.
• Maintain world class standards with regard to electrical equipment.
• Eliminate dangerous and unlawful practices relating to equipment safety.

• Complete electrical maintenance and repairs on Compression Moulding (SACMI and CSI machines) and Injection Moulding (Engel Victory e-motion 280, Engel Victory75, Engel Victory50 Machines);
• Complete electrical maintenance and repairs on Slitter and Liner (SACMI); Printing (TAMPOPRINT Machines) and Packaging Machine (HEKUMA);
• Buying maintenance spares and availability of the plant equipment;
• PLC programming and fault finding on Siemens S7, Allen Bradley, Moeller, Omron and HMI System SIMATIC WinCC flexible, SIMATIC mobile panels;
• Attend to all Electrical breakdowns and making backups of PLC programs
• Electronics and control maintenance on production lines;
• Follow Health and Safety procedures;
• Assisting during breakdowns as and whenever required;
