Key Responsibilities:

• Lead power generation recovery efforts following equipment breakdowns, minimizing downtime and generation losses.
• Act as Supervisor when required and support the Plant Supervisor with daily operations, reporting, and incident investigations.
• Oversee site personnel and coordinate daily activities to ensure efficient workflow and safety compliance.
• Monitor and control plant operations via the SCADA system.
• Responsible for all maintenance activities across the PV plant, from module level to the 132kV substation .
• Conduct maintenance and repairs on String Combiner Boxes and tracker systems.
• Perform inverter maintenance, including:
  Fault diagnosis and resolution
  Resetting inverters and replacing power stacks
  Configuring IP addresses
  Closing and tracking work orders through the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
• Troubleshoot and repair tracker motors and related control systems.
• Manage both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, ensuring timely execution and minimal operational impact.
• Drive performance optimization through data monitoring, trend analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Company Overview: Upington Solar One

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain all electrical production equipment across the solar field.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of subcontractors to ensure timely and quality delivery.
• Compile and submit detailed monthly performance reports to the plant owner.
• Perform routine and ad hoc electrical inspections of inverters and related systems.
• Administer documentation of maintenance activities, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring full regulatory and operational compliance.
• Implement and monitor environmental policies and procedures to maintain sustainable operations.
• Communicate ongoing and upcoming site activities with clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate and comprehensive record-keeping of all plant events and activities.
• Maintain both DC and AC systems to ensure consistent and safe energy output.
• Perform maintenance on transformers, switchgear, and associated high-voltage equipment.
• Report daily plant production metrics and work activity summaries.
• Monitor and control plant operations using the SCADA system.
• Manage maintenance personnel, including general laborers and administrative staff.
• Optimize plant performance through monitoring, trend analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
• Operate and manage 22kV systems in accordance with ORHVS (Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems).
