Amorentia Estate and Nursery has a rich and proud history in the Macadamia industry for more than 50 years of propagating top quality trees. The nursery consists of 4 main branches, Macadamia, Avocado, Ornamental and Dragon Fruit nurseries.

This position enhanced and enriched my already passionate plant orientated goals by expanding my knowledge of the industry.

My responsibilities includes:

• Management of Macadamia Nursery, Avocado Nursery, Ornamental Nursery and Dragon Fruit Nursery.
• Assigned daily team work schedules, monitored and evaluated performance of more than 50 staff members.
• Maximizing operational profits by closely inspecting trees, assessing quality and identifying and preventing problems such as disease or insects.
• Creating, managing and adjusting of fertilizer program, pest control program and irrigation program for more than 400 000 plants.
• Ensured that industry standards are met when sourcing propagating material, quality control, dispatching orders and hygiene.
• Manage operational records and oversee administrative needs for yearly SGASA audit.
• Engaging directly with clients as a sales person.
• Regularly visiting both new and established orchards to provide knowledge and insight of Macadamia and Avocado production.
• Building customer relationships by regularly attending symposiums, study groups and farm visits.
• Adjusting production strategies to account for changing propagation techniques and market demands.

HBA Groep Dienste is the mother company of two individual companies, namely, Boompieland and 3D Constructions. I was employed as the proud and passionate manager of Boompieland Nursery, which is an avocado and macadamia tree nursery.
This position provided me with many amazing opportunities to interact and learn from farmers and other nurseries in our community on a regular basis from an early age.

My responsibilities included:

• Hiring, training and managing permanent and temporary staff to optimize performance during every season.
• Managing teams of between 10 - 20 staff members.
• Maintaining a tidy workarea while managing irrigation, fertilizer and pesticides, planting, grafting and deliveries.
• Working closely with employees to improve practices, techniques and hygiene choices, optimizing performance and minimizing waste.
• Ordering materials and maintaining inventory across seasons.
• Working directly with customers as salesperson.
• Compiling Excel reports on all departments.

I have been involved in 3D Construction, our sister company, as project manager since 2021. I was grateful for this opportunity as it aligns with my interests in architecture and construction. Although managing a couple of 3D Construction projects, Boompieland has always been my main responsibility and priority.

My responsibilities included:

• Reviewing plans and setting up material lists.
• Ordering and maintaining inventory of materials and equipment.
• Creating and reviewing work schedules to ensure up to date feedback to my employer and clients.
• Managing groups of 20-30 staff on building site.
• Monitoring staff well being and work quality.
• Responsible for clear communication between various professionals and contractors eg. engineer, architect, electrician and client.
