- At Offitech I am a network technician.
- I do home WIFI installations for LTE WIFI from Vodacom and MTN. I know the basics for setting up routers and antennas so that the clients can access there WIFI and have good speeds. When it comes to trouble shooting, I know the basics, from testing the cable through to the router/modem. I know the 2 standards when it comes to crimping RJ45 connectors and the difference between CAT cables.
- But I did more then just networking here – here I also replaced computer/laptop hardware, from ram, GPU, CPU and HDD/SDD. I refurbished old machines, updated the OS and firmware. I worked on printers servicing them and replacing there parts as well, but still new when it comes to printers.
- I installed network cabinets and switches to expand the networks as well. Did CCTV installations and configurations on IP camera systems. The NVR software I worked with is Vivotek where I setup the monitor for the cameras and login details for the client.

- To conclude this, I do enjoy working on computers and networks, I want to learn more and do more. That’s why I found a entrust in home servers, where I work with Linux to do my own work and studies to learn more and create backups to even my own cloud service. To continue my studies in networking and go on to software engineering one day.

- At car Hifi I was a technician for tracker, where I installed trackers in all sorts of vehicles from cars to trucks, according to training and SOP guidelines.
- I’ve learned where to find trackers, install them, do fault finding when equipment failed, before and after vehicle inspections, how to work with clients, drove to client houses to do installations, explained to them the process, call the control room for testing or any problem/ queries and train new employees.

- At Solar Fundi I was employed as an installer, where I assisted the supervisor with installing panels on roofs and running cables through the roof to DV boards.
- I installed gate motors, did a little bit of CO2 welding, wired a DV board, cleaned and maintained stock, drove to Johannesburg to do stock pick up, dug up and replanted lawns. Installed and ran house wires for lights and wall plugs, cleaned company vehicles and did housekeeping.

- I worked under artisans ranging from Diesel Mechanics to Auto Electricians. At Belaz we maintained and serviced 220- and 240-ton dump trucks. I was required to do basic electrical work, services for 500 hours and 1000 hours. I assisted in replacing engines, contactor’s, grid boxes, lights, buckets, wheel hubs and wheel motors.
- Managed and cleaned store rooms, did service reports, daily inspections and job safety analysis on the trucks. Worked breakdown shifts, weekends and night shifts.

Experience I have came from my own hobbies and learning through life.
- Worked on cars, as I have overhauled a 4-cylinder engine, did basic services on a V6, straight six- and 4-cylinder engines. Replaced shocks, water pumps, basic electrical work and fault finding. Swapped out 3 gearboxes and overhauled a clutch. Cars I’ve worked on, Nissan King Cab, BMW 320I (E36), Uno fiat, Hyundai Getz and a Suzuki swift.
- I know how to do basic wood work, as I have done repairs around the house and built desks, beds and shelves. I can paint, do basic wiring eg; plugs, leads and lights. Tools I can use are impacts, drills, jigsaws and grinders. I know how to crawl and walk through ceiling as it is sometimes required with cable work.
- I have taken computers apart (I enjoy gaming and programming) to clean out dust. I know some parts like what a CPU, Graphics card, RAM, HDD, SSD power supply and what a motherboard is. I understand that PC’s and laptops are sensitive and that you have to work carefully. I also have found an entrust in home servers, as I did setup my own home server and cloud with Linux.
