Chara Viljoen

I am a fourth year student at Stellenbosch University. I grew up having been instilled with a love to learn and always to explore the reason 'why'. Hence, learning is not based off of a degree, subject, or skill; rather, it is the process itself which bears most weight to growth. This can only come about with hard work, diligence, discipline, grit, and most importantly - a willingness to adapt.

Success for me is not determined by the goal - rather it is defined by the process of achieving that goal. A process which cannot materialize without appreciating and understanding the value of those around you.

I have always had a sense for adventure. Adventure which in itself is the art of discovery - whether this be in nature or in the academic field. Amidst this, I always seek to lift others up around me, knowing that, "no man is an island".

Every person has potential - but it starts with realizing the importance of the immediate and acting upon it.

For to truly live is to live for something greater than oneself, something outside of you.
