  • I have been actively involved in teaching since 2007. My main experience is in the FET phase where I teach the learning area Tourism. I am privileged to have been involved in the subject for more than 17 years. During these years I was involved in teaching all three grades on an annual basis. (Grade 10 to 12)
  • Responsibilities included:
  • Subject and classroom administration - creating a culture for learning
  • Lesson and subject content planning using ATP to compile work schedules and day planning.
  • Create worksheets and informal assessment resources
  • Development of power points and interactive/authentic learning teaching methods
  • Preparation of formal assessments such as Control tests and examination-papers for June and November at school level, district and provincial level.
  • Moderator for papers and projects
  • External Moderator for PAT at district as well as provincial level

  • Team Collaboration: Part of my extracurricular responsibilities is to represent Duineveld as chairman of the school's open day and to introduce it to prospective grade 7 learners and their parents This requires careful planning and cooperation between colleagues and the private sector involved in the development and promotion of Duineveld High School as a professional educational institution

  • Fluent in both Afrikaans and English: Appointed as an examiner and/or moderator for test and examination papers during the years 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 for grades 10 to 12 This includes mid-term and November papers and the translation of these papers into both the required mainstream languages used

  • Core Curriculum and Standards:I depend on the ATP, work schedule adjusted according to the school calendar and term planning and extracurricular activities of Duineveld High School in correlation with my daily lesson plans to capture the Tourism curriculum and intensification activities and programs To achieve all this, good planning and time management are crucial

  • Student-Centered Learning:Learner-centered teaching is my starting point when I prepare a topic I make use of various learning resources to not only present the content in authentic ways but also to accommodate the learners with special needs and various learning attitudes Audio visual and interactive opportunities are built into lesson presentations Making use of data projectors and ebeam electronics

  • Team Collaboration: Successful teamwork promotes interpersonal tolerance and relationships During 2022 and 2023, in close collaboration with fellow colleagues in the ZF MGCAWU district, I managed the Moderation process for grade 12 Practical assessment task This required good administration and the necessary reporting so that teachers experience the process as positive and constructive The outcome and summary report on the quality and standardization of learner marks is presented to the necessary stakeholders
