As Group Occupational Health and Safety Officer I am empowered to:

• Conduct health and safety audits of all our stores, factories, officers, and distribution centers. (+- 250 stores)
• Identify potential hazards, risks and dangers
• Investigate incidents
• Make recommendations regarding health and safety
• Conduct inspections
• Attend health and safety committee meetings and advise in sub-committee meetings
• Visit incident sites and attend inspections
• Attend any investigation or formal inquiry
• Inspect any document related to health and safety matters
• Accompany an inspector
• Be accompanied by technical advisor if approved by the employer
• Participate in internal audits
• Ensure that all aspects of OHS training for the group
• Ensure that the company and its facets are DOL inspection ready and exceed expectations

As Group Health and Safety Officer:

• I created a IOD audit doc making the process of auditing effective and easier to understand
• I also created one for IOD claims and reporting - a mechanism sent to all our stores where team members can immediately report any OHS related matter.
• I made use of Microsoft Forms for DOL visit reportings - making it easier to collate and measure group visits. It also makes it easier to understand and predict next visit date due to the use of graphs and pie charts.
• I created a new OHS Company Policy and Vision Mission Statement.

Duties:

• Develop OHS Policies – Create and update safety policies across the organization.

• Manage PPE and Equipment – Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety gear.

• Keep Records – Maintain accurate OHS records and report to management.
• Collaborate with Stakeholders – Work with teams and regulators to ensure safety.
