  • I was heading a research project and a research team in the Phase 1 of the current study, that is, “An implementation study on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) adherence in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa”.
  • Duties:
  • To implement, supervise and monitor the phase I of the study as per protocol with the support of Eshowe project medical referent and project epidemiologist.
  • To contribute to the training of site counsellors / chaps for the recruitment of participants for interviews and focus groups
  • To organize the site teams and ensure the proper recruitment and management of participants at each study site.
  • To organize the focus group sessions in MSF office or other settings if needed.
  • To ensure that all participants have understood the condition of the Study Phase I and have signed an informed consent before the start of the sessions.
  • To supervise and contribute to the interview of key informants, in depth interviews and focus group discussions
  • To supervise and contribute to the data transcription from the records made during focus groups and interviews

  • In addition to my responsibilities, I was part of the Sexual Violence task team, in which the aim of this task team was to find or identify the Rhodes University policies that do not protect the victims of rape, and also to explore the ways in which the Rhodes University deals with matters such as violence, rape in all the spheres of the University, i.e. students, lecturers, cleaners, gardeners, and all the University staff members. As such, the Commission for Gender Equality visited the University to also do their investigation, in which I was a facilitator of this steering team meeting and minuted the meeting.
