Job overview

  • Asset Verification/Stock-take: Scanning the barcodes of the books, with the aid of a PDT, to record the total of items (books, art, etc.) in public libraries.
  • New Consignments (new books): Checking the condition and verifying that it is the correct allocation for the Region.
  • Verifying and allocating the consignments to the respective libraries.
  • Assist in closing a library: Sorting the stock and distinguishing the quality and relevance of the items, packing the books in boxes that were prepared in advance according to disposals (discards, redundant & free choice). Carry and load vehicles for transportation.
  • Book Selection- capturing the libraries’ input within the region and allocating the requested books accordingly.
  • Scanning the barcodes of the books to record the number of books in store.
  • Office management: Telephone etiquette, print & scan documents, managing office equipment.
  • Take inventory of stationery.
  • Un-packing boxes and finding available space for the items.
  • Offloading the PDTs used for stock-take at the public library and creating a list/database for the scanned items.
  • Allocating various books to the public libraries, working from a database and om SLIMS.
