Medical Officer in Outbreak Response Unit (ORU), Division of Public Health, Surveillance and Response.

Responsibilities: ORU Clinical Team Manager, Editor of NICD's monthly Communicable Diseases Communiqué, reviewer of weekly event-based surveillance report, NICD Clinician Hotline duties, outbreak investigation and response activities, research, report writing, teaching and training.

Rotations: Chemical Pathology (3 months), Microbiology (3 months), NICD (6 months).

Responsibilities: writer and member of the editorial team for NICD's monthly Communicable Diseases Communiqué, outbreak response activities (including COVID-19, mpox, measles, mumps, and rabies), teaching and training, report writing, partaking in daily activities within the relevant NHLS departments.

Conferences: poster presentation at the Federation of Infectious Diseases Societies in Southern Africa (FIDSSA) Conference (A retrospective descriptive case series on extensively drug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii as a leading case of early-onset neonatal sepsis at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital), Africa Health Conference speaker (Infectious diseases commonly encountered in the Emergency Department).

Rotations included: Internal Medicine (3 months), General Surgery (3 months), Obstetrics and Gynaecology (3 months), Paediatrics (3 months), Family Medicine (6 months), Psychiatry (2 months), Anaesthetics (2 months).

Project intern for the Tuberculosis in the Mining Sector in Southern Africa (TIMSSA) project.

Responsible for development of Screening and Active Case Finding models in Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa.

Training of Community Healthcare Workers in preparation for National Health Insurance implementation in South Africa.

Training of Outreach Team Leaders on HIV & AIDS and TB.

Involved in materials development, training, data analysis, and report writing.
