Summary

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

As an enthusiastic and devoted educator, I strive to bring the best out of my students and provide them with a platform where they exhibit their talents and develop their unique character strengths, be it in the classroom, socially, on the stage or on the sports field.

As an experienced teacher and leader, I aim to create a safe learning environment, where students feel comfortable to pursue interests, ask questions and make mistakes. All students and teams I work with are given positive, specific feedback, tools to set S.M.A.R.T targets and are encouraged to reflect on their progress to improve in order to achieve success.

During a classroom visit, you will find happy, engaged and informed students who love to learn. Students who set their own learning goals while taking ownership of their own assessments and learning journeys.

I pride myself in being a lifelong learner who enjoys being challenged to learn new skills and techniques to further develop my instructional repertoire. I always strive to learn and adapt to meet the learners' needs. An example of my commitment to professional growth is serving as a Learning Enhancement Coordinator. In this role, I collaborated closely with teachers to create inclusive classrooms and learning spaces where students who learned and expressed their knowledge in diverse ways were given the opportunity to do so in a mainstream classroom setting. This experience provided me with the skills to develop and create inclusive learner centered classrooms, where activities are tailored to the needs and strengths of students. All technology is integrated, learning is differentiated, and rubrics are adjusted to guide students to set and reach attainable, meaningful targets.

I have developed and taught curriculum in the South African National Curriculum, International Baccalaureate, Singaporean Curriculum, IGSE and American National Curriculum. My qualifications and experience in pastoral care, primary and middle years Physical and Health Education, extra-curricular activities coordination, and learning enhancement help me truly understand and support each unique student in their growth and development.

I am confident that I will add a wealth of experience that will be valuable to your establishment and further the learning experience of your students.
