  • Assessing problems-
  • Organizations usually have various channels such as live chats, phone and email for customers to send their inquiries and complaints. Application support analysts communicate with customers and make sure that they help address each complaint accordingly. They assess customer problems to identify specific areas of concern the organization needs to address.
  • Identifying and assessing technological solutions-
  • Organizations come up with various solutions for their needs and problems, including technological solutions. An application support analyst is part of the team that leverages technology to facilitate a business strategy and improve performance. The team brainstorms software solutions and assesses their effectiveness and efficiency in solving an organization's challenges and problems. There, the team pitches the idea to the business's management for decision making. The assessment of an application support analyst is important to help the management make an informed decision.
  • Working with cross-functional teams-
  • Problems between business applications can affect various functions. The problem can have a ripple effect on the entire business's operations regardless of the function it affects primarily. For example, an issue with check out or payment can cause a delay in shipping. Application support analysts work with teams from various departments of the business to synchronize the functionality of the organization's operations.
  • Providing on-call support-
  • Applications users may encounter various issues or questions as they use these programs. Some employers require application support analysts to provide on-call support regularly while others provide support as needed. Application support analysts can provide support through email, phone calls or live chat. On-call support requires an application support analyst to give the user on the other end of the call their full attention. Furthermore, it is their responsibility to look at all the factors of the various issues to prevent other users from experiencing similar issues.

  • Senior staff in an organization require reports with details of an application's benefits and shortcomings for better decision making.
