Projects

Projects
1. Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Transformation (EDIT) Contribution towards the organization transformation: one of my roles included the development and implementation of the Eskom Kusile Power Station Construction Project workforce transformation plan in line with the Employment Equity and Skills Development, Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Acts. The project was able to meet its targets on racial and gender equity regardless of the construction environment being male dominated and with a resource mix that included international teams., 2. Labour Relations Building sustainable relations between employee labor organizations and the Executive team was one of the critical factors for delivering a project worth more than150 billion rands. My role was to ensure sustainable relationship existed between the Project Leadership and union organizations to promote employee peace and productivity. When I left Eskom, the project had synchronized its first electricity generating unit with minimum disruptions from industrial unrest., 3. Women Development Gender Focused Development Programme: I was part of the team that implemented the Eskom Women Development Programme at a power station which was a gender-based development initiative that aimed at ensuring women development and empowerment across all levels of the organisation., 4. Employee Recognition Employee Recognition and awards given the complexity and dynamics of the Eskom Construction project environment, employee morale and motivation were one of the biggest challenges that the Project Director was faced with in the execution of the project. My role was to ensure employees are kept energised and motivated to achieve project objectives. Through various interventions such as employee recognition and team effectiveness, the project was able to benefit from employees that are motivated and shared the vision of the leadership team., 5. Cost Reduction Project While Eskom was going through financial distress, various Divisions were tasked to reduce costs and implement cost control measures across the organisation. I was involved in a labour cost reduction project which was led by myself in my role as the Construction Project Middle Manager Human Resources. The project had to cut manpower costs by10% and I was tasked by the Project Director to lead the initiative. The focus area was on the project resourcing strategy which at the time led to contract resources being remunerated at close to five times the market rate. Through consultation with the Project Resourcing partners, the project team was able to convert all third-party contractors to fixed term contractors leading to a decrease in project labour costs. After consultations, resources from international partners were released and local resources employed to reduce the project labour costs.
