Ms Ayanda Mvimbi is currently a Programme Management Specialist on Women's Economic Empowerment at the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in the South Africa Multi-Country Office (MCO), which covers Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, and South Africa. Ayanda is a senior international development professional, a gender equality and women empowerment expert and a strategic leader. She has over 25 years of experience, including ten years with UN Women and, before that, with Irish Aid, Oxfam, and National Women Organizations. She has excellent programme leadership and management, advocacy representation and partnership development skills and experience to deliver high-impact results. Has extensive experience in social and economic policy and is a thought leader and an ardent advocate for women's rights. Leads UN Women's work on women's economic empowerment focused on women's financial and economic inclusion by unlocking economic opportunities for women-owned enterprises in the economy and increasing their participation and benefit in various value chains. Has been instrumental in designing and growing the UN Women's Economic Empowerment SAMCO Portfolio.
