  • Currently working full-time in OPD/Casualty for community service.
  • In OPD I see about 50 patients daily with varied pathologies, acuities and complexities. Some days, and most overtime hours, are spent in casualty were I attend to emergencies and acute pathologies.
  • I work about 80 - 96 overtime hours a month. The bulk of my overtime hours are done in casualty, where I also attend to emergencies in the COVID ward, administer the anaesthetic for emergency caesarean sections and attend to victims of sexual assault for the rape crisis centre.
  • Sometimes I would do my overtime hours in the paediatric ward, neonatal high care and the kangaroo mother care unit.
  • Other times I would be on call for the adult medical, surgical and high care wards.
  • I was also sometimes asked to administer a general anaesthetic to unstable patients as I was one of only four people at the hospital who could do this.
  • I am well established as reliable and competent by the community and my colleges.

  • I did about 80 - 96 overtime hours in specific rotations usually with a medical officer or registrar.
