  • DSC Kenya Ltd was awarded several new Key Accounts since 2022, with the focus on Warehousing, whereas DSC (K) was predominately a Transport Solution Model. This necessitated a new Role to manage Warehouse Operations and to upskill the Local Teams in this regard. Simultaneously there is a need to manage the Clients expectations and to align both parties accordingly.
  • As such, my Role Profile included amongst other duties, the following main objectives:
  • Support of DSC's growth agenda by building and maintaining profitable key accounts (Multinationals)
  • Build high quality and trusted business relationships within the customer's leadership team
  • Identification, assessment, pursuit and closure of additional share of wallet within the assigned accounts in addition to effective management of a proactive pipeline (As per annual AGP Targets set)
  • Pro-actively manage the renewal agenda and ensure that customer satisfaction is sustained (Multinationals)
  • Develop and leverage constructive C-Suite relationships within assigned accounts (that are business and issue-based, as opposed to transactional)
  • Act as key contact for international customers - Reckitts, Beiersdorf, GE, BAT, Colgate & Unilever.
  • Maintain access to key decision makers and establish coach network
  • Ensure quality of delivered services and proactively address customer issues
  • Facilitate knowledge/ best-practice sharing between DSC community in East Africa
  • Spend a high proportion (75%) of time on site working with the customer and the DSC operational team.

Distribution Centre Manager (Kellogg’s SA Contract)

  • DSC South Africa was awarded the Kellogg’s SA Contract to manage Transit Bay operations at their Springs Manufacturing Plant, as well as the main Distribution Centre ion Boksburg, with 2 overflow Sites. Total Pallet Stock Holding of 30,000 pallets and circa R500mio in value, with a Total head count of 130 FTE and worth 4.4M Euro.
  • I was part of the implementation Team and played a pivotal role in planning and directing the operations during the transitioning of the previous 3PL Service Provider and their Warehouse Management System, to the DHL Systems. The Transitioning window was very small, and we had to be fully operational on the DHL Systems and Operations Controls by the June the 1st of 2022.
  • This, we managed to do in time and the operations were fully fledged, with the odd start up issues.

  • Strategically plan and manage warehouse operations, logistics and transportation.
  • Lead, coach and nurture a Team of Customer Service Officers Lead, coach and nurture a Team of Customer Service Officers, processing Sales Orders on behalf of KSA, to ensure Customers are receiving Service that exceeds expectations.

  • Provided hands-on oversight to the operations of the various Sites to meet financial, strategic and performance goals. Drove improvements to operational distribution metrics by ensuring compliance with ISO processes and meeting KPIs. Support of the Warehouse Managers to maintain Service Levels and On Time in Full deliveries of >95%. Directed daily Operations in accordance with Transport Plans. Assisted Category Buyers and Planners by identifying potential out of stocks in advance, to avoid supply interruptions. Identified continuous improvement opportunities and capitalised on them as soon as possible to reap the financial benefits they produced. Consistent and continuous review of risk, security and occupational health processes and procedures.
