  • During this time I've become comfortable with a variety of procedures and skills; Endo-tracheal intubation for Adults and Paeds, front-room thoracotomy, Lysis of an Acute MI, Central line placements, recognizing at treating various toxidromes, most commonly organophosphate, and dealing with life threatening trauma cases.
  • At Khayelitsha many of the patient required intensive care prior to being transferred to Tygerberg Hospital, thus being a district hospital these patient had to be stabilized in our resus prior to transfer
  • During my time I had the opportunity to be part of a team, one that valued open communication and room to grow; with this many new interns and registrars rotated through Khayelitsha, I had to ensure adequate team dynamic and role delegations, take a senior role at times to teach young interns and discuss inner workings of hospital with new registrars. I value these inter-personal- relationships.
