
Ms Anastasia Bernadette Hanana is currently serving with the Department of Agriculture as a Deputy Director: Cooperatives and Enterprise Development (CED). She has transformed the directorate in the district since her appointment in May 2019. Ms. Hanana was previously working as a project coordinator in the Property Management directorate at the Free State Shared Service Centre. She worked for two years at the Free State Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Services office for registration as a Professional Town and Regional Planner. Previous vacancies held by the applicant includes starting as an Assistant Planner and later Senior Planner for the Free State/Northern Cape Regional Land Claims Commission. She also worked as a Principal Planner in the acquisition directorate whilst based at the Port Shepstone District Office in Kwazulu-Natal. Ms. Hanana has great experience in Project Management, Leadership, Supervision and People Management, IDP processes and Spatial Planning. She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Management from the University of the Free State (UFS), an Honors Degree in Geographical Information Systems from the University of Stellenbosch and obtained her junior degree in Geography from the University of Stellenbosch. She obtained a Hons (SP) degree (Cum Laude) in Spatial Planning at the University of the Free State in 2015. She obtained a master’s degree in Town and Regional Planning also from UFS. Ms. Hanana has experience in community facilitation, stakeholder engagements, negotiation skills and conflict management skills. Currently she is driving the Farmer Production Support Units (FPSU) for the Garden Route and Central Karoo districts and under her leadership the Themba Lethu and Haarlem FPSUs are ready and almost operational and reaching functionality. With her team, she is planning and negotiating with the Central Karoo District Municipality for land to establish a FPSU for the area. In the Garden Route and Central Karoo, she worked with numerous small businesses with the aim to transform them from emerging to profitable business. She assisted them with marketing, business plan development and skills development and worked closely with SEDFA in the province. She assisted the small businesses with registration CIPC and facilitated training on cooperative development. A detailed profile of all these businesses are available on request.
