Credit Risk Analyst (August 2022 – Current)
Working in Standard Bank’s Corporate and Investment Banking division, within Credit Risk, placed in the Diversified Industries team, with a focus on clients in various industries including Automotives, Healthcare, Professional Firms, Manufacturing, among others. Key responsibilities include:
· Undertaking of quantitative and qualitative financial analysis to develop a comprehensive understanding of counter party risks for existing and new banking facilities, including the analysis of the essential elements of risk such as threats, vulnerabilities, safeguards, consequences and the likelihood of the threats materializing.
· Conducting annual risk reviews of counterparties and monitoring covenants and conditions on the existing portfolio base.
· Completing and compiling credit papers which adequately reflect counter party risks for new or increased facilities and presenting of credit papers and making recommendations to the appropriate approvers.
· Similarly, providing approval on credit papers for existing and/or new facilities based on my level of authority.
· Utilizing internal rating models and their risk drivers and translating this information into a rating using the correct rating model.
· Ensuring that the post-approval implementation of facilities and legal documentation is in accordance with the conditions of sanction by liaising with Legal and Business.
· Interacting with clients and attending client meetings to understand their requirements, their business and their financial position and positioning credit questions and comments accordingly.
· Daily management, escalation and control of portfolio irregularities.
· Staying attuned to industry and market risk developments and trends in relation to counterparty exposures and their impact on the underlying portfolios.
