Joburg Development Agency Commuter Shelter Project
City of Joburg and JDA established and designed designated ranks, holding areas, stops, shelters and lay-bys for the provision of public transport for Rea Vaya and Metrobus passengers all around the City of Joburg. The commuter shelters will be custom-built and fitted with a polyconic projection of guide route maps, public transport timetables, wheelchair friendly ramps, an advertising light box and backrest seating. It is ergonomically designed and will have a strong, smooth concrete base and will serve as a windbreak.

The City of Johannesburg created an app to assist citizens to move from A to B utilizing Public Transport. VayaMoja provided consolidated information about routes, schedules and fares across various transit operators. The app was designed to help users search for routes; select A to B points and get schedules; estimate cost of fares and more. The app also includes information on incidents, road closures and other transit events.
