Summary

I am an undergraduate with a Bachelors degree in Information Systems from the University of the Western Cape.

Coming from a service support background, I am familiar with the ITIL principals and standard service delivery practices. Managing an IT Service Desk team while I was based at British American Tobacco SA has given me the opportunity to exercise my motivational and resource management skills.

Following this, I occupied a more specialised role in the field of Software Systems Integration in which I was exposed to (either in an administrative capacity or a facilitative one) technologies such as, Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) , TIBCO ActiveMatrix Service Grid, TIBCO iProcess, TIBCO Hawk, TIBCO BusinessWorks, TIBCO BusinessEvents, Red Hat JBoss AS and Apache Tomcat.

I have since managed a DevSecOps platform delivery team for SGT (Sanlam Group Technology), as DevSecOps Manager providing DevSecOps-as-a-Service to SGT's clients; the Sanlam Group companies. This is where I have been exposed to leadership on a middle management level and all that that encompasses, while still maintaining a fair bit of technical responsibilities within the team.

Currently, I hold the position of DevSecOps Specialist at Luno. My main function in this role is to ensure that we promote application security within the software engineers' mindset. By establishing processes, implementing tooling and driving out training and awareness programs, we solidify Luno's security posture by shifting left and catching vulnerabilities early on in the software development lifecycle.

I am excited by the prospect of using my skills and knowledge acquired in the above-mentioned roles to improve on, and create products (and services), which bring about or enrich value for my direct and indirect clients, in future.
