NEFA acts as an advocacy body and catalyst for the closure of the huge electricity supply gap in Africa through promotion of energy policies that embrace nuclear technology and renewable energy alternatives.

• To lobby for, as well as organise appropriate long-term financial packages to finance nuclear and renewable energy power plants in Sub-Saharan Africa
• Facilitate engagements and attract global capital into the exploration and mining of uranium and plutonium in Sub-Saharan Africa

• Pikitup Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd is the official integrated waste management service provider to the City of Joburg. We are mandated to provide integrated waste management services to the residents of Johannesburg. It employs more than 4500 people, using more than 200 trucks to provide refuse collection services to the City of Joburg’s private, and business residents.
• Pikitup services the entire 1 625 square km that is Johannesburg, collecting around 6000 tons of waste every day

• My work is based on full validation and optimisation of chemical techniques in a radiological laboratory, this includes analyse of radioactive and non radioactive materials, operation and qualification of radiometric instruments such as HPLC-DAD/VWD, Gamma spectrometry, Alpha spectrometry
• Our laboratory is SANAS accredited under the ISO 17025, FDA and GMP, therefore maintenance and compliance to the international standard is not compromised but sustained and adhered too
• Interpretation of results and compilation of test reports on analysis performed, validate new analytical process or instrument generate a full validation reports to ensure consistent compliance to specifications for routine execution of the process
• My work includes writing of work instructions for routine personnel to perform, training of routine personnel to have sufficient insight to execute analytical processes to specifications, perform first level troubleshooting and problem solving, perform non-routine analysis for customer if requested, work with the maintenance technician and repair technicians to provide second level troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure limited downtime to the routine processes, constantly assess feasibility of analytical processes to improve the quality system, conduct literature research, experimentation and implementation of standard radio-analytical processes and analytical instruments
• Recently involved in documenting clean laboratory procedures and protocols, and analysis of natural uranium using ICP-MS

• My duties at the National Institute of Occupational health involved research on pesticides such as pyrethroids, organophosphates and chlopyrifos in biological fluids using chromatography and gas chromatography - mass spectrometry techniques
